(1) The Board may
provisionally register an applicant in the area or areas of medical radiation
technology in respect of which the person has applied for registration if
satisfied that —
(a) the
applicant has applied to be registered under section 27 in respect of the
area or areas;
(b) the
requisite evidence is likely to be produced to enable the Board to be
satisfied as to the matters set out in section 27(2) in respect of the
area or areas; and
(c) the
applicant has paid the registration fee, if any, prescribed by the
regulations.
(2) Provisional
registration has effect for a period of 3 months beginning on the day on
which it is granted unless earlier cancelled.
(3) The Board may
impose such conditions on registration under subsection (1) as the Board
reasonably requires to ensure the competent and safe practice of medical
radiation technology by the medical radiation technologist.
(4) If the Board,
before the period referred to in subsection (2) expires, has reason to
believe that a person granted provisional registration is not entitled to be
registered as a medical radiation technologist under section 27 in the
area or areas of medical radiation technology in respect of which the person
has applied for registration, the Board may, without prejudice to the
person’s application to be registered, cancel the person’s
provisional registration.
