MEDICAL RADIATION TECHNOLOGISTS ACT 2006 (NO. 21 OF 2006) - SECT 27

27 .         Registration

        (1)         The Board is to register an applicant in respect of one or more areas of medical radiation technology if satisfied that the applicant has —

            (a)         complied with the requirements of subsection (2) relevant to the area in respect of which registration is applied for; and

            (b)         paid the registration fee, if any, prescribed by the regulations.

        (2)         The requirements for registration are that the applicant —

            (a)         is a fit and proper person to be registered as a medical radiation technologist;

            (b)         has not been convicted of an offence the nature of which renders the person unfit to practise as a medical radiation technologist;

            (c)         has adequate knowledge of the English language both written and oral;

            (d)         has sufficient physical capacity, mental capacity and skill to practise medical radiation technology;

            (e)         subject to subsection (3), has acquired such knowledge and has such practical experience in the relevant area of medical radiation technology that in the opinion of the Board is sufficient to enable that person to perform efficiently the duties of a medical radiation technologist in that area; and

            (f)         holds a qualification prescribed by the rules as a qualification for registration as a medical radiation technologist relevant to the area in respect of which registration is applied for or a qualification that in the opinion of the Board is equivalent to such a qualification.

        (3)         Subsection (2)(e) does not apply to a person who, having been awarded a qualification referred to in subsection (2)(f) within the 5 years preceding the application, is applying to the Board, for the first time, for registration under subsection (1).

        (4)         The Board may impose such conditions on registration under subsection (1) as the Board reasonably requires to ensure the competent and safe practice of medical radiation technology.

        (5)         A condition imposed under subsection (4) may apply indefinitely or for a period of time specified by the Board in the written notice.

        (6)         The Board may, on its own motion or on the application of a person the subject of a condition imposed under this section, on reasonable grounds, revoke or vary the condition.
