Western Australian Numbered Acts Western Australian Numbered Acts (1) This section
applies if on the first court date for a charge the prosecutor appears and the
court has received a written plea of not guilty to the charge by the accused.
(2) If on the first
court date the accused appears, the court must proceed in accordance with
Division 6.
(3) If on the first
court date the accused does not appear, the court must adjourn the charge to a
new court date.
(4) If on the
new court date the accused appears, the court must proceed in accordance with
section 54 or Division 6, as the case requires.
(5) If on the
new court date the accused does not appear, the court must proceed in
accordance with section 53 or 55, as the case requires.
