(1) If an accused is
awaiting trial in a court, the accused or the prosecutor may apply at any time
to the court for an order setting a trial date or, if a trial date has already
been set, for an earlier trial date.
(2) On such an
application, the court, after hearing all parties to the prosecution, may set
a trial date.
(3) If the court sets
a trial date, it may make any order and issue any document needed to ensure
that any person, including the accused, whose presence will be needed, appears
on the date.
