(1)  A person undertaking design work under this Act is responsible for ensuring that the plans and specifications, or the advice, comprising the design work are sufficient to result in work that is likely to comply with the National Construction Code, if the work is properly completed in accordance with those plans and specifications or that advice.

(2)  If design work under this Act requires a performance solution or alternative plumbing installation, a person undertaking the design work is to provide, as part of the design work, an acceptable solution or an alternative installation, or a verification method for compliance, to ensure the performance solution or alternative plumbing installation is likely to comply with the National Construction Code if the work is properly completed in accordance with the design work.
