(1) A building surveyor may grant an application for a temporary occupancy permit under section 230 if satisfied that the building or temporary structure is suitable for occupation.(2) If a building surveyor grants the application, he or she is to issue a temporary occupancy permit to the applicant in the approved form.(3) The building surveyor may issue a temporary occupancy permit (a) subject to any reasonable and relevant conditions the building surveyor thinks fit; and(b) authorising the building or temporary structure specified in the permit to be erected or re-erected as specified in the permit; and(c) for a period that does not exceed 36 months or for more than one period within a 36-month period.(4) A temporary occupancy permit is to (a) be in an approved form; and(b) state the use, or uses, to which the building or temporary structure may be put; and(c) state the conditions of the permit; and(d) state the period, or periods, for which the permit has been issued.(5) A building surveyor who issues a temporary occupancy permit is to (a) notify the relevant permit authority in writing that the permit has been issued; and(b) provide it with a copy of the temporary occupancy permit.
