(1A) In this
regulation —
safety sign does not include a placard.
(1) This regulation
applies if a safety sign is required to control an identified risk in relation
to using, handling, generating or storing hazardous chemicals at a workplace.
(2) A person
conducting a business or undertaking at the workplace must display a safety
sign at the workplace to —
(a) warn
of a particular hazard associated with the hazardous chemicals; or
(b)
state the responsibilities of a particular person in relation to the hazardous
chemicals.
Penalty for this subregulation:
(a) for
an individual, a fine of $7 000;
(b) for
a body corporate, a fine of $35 000.
(3) The person must
ensure that the safety sign is —
(a)
located next to the hazard; and
(b)
clearly visible to a person approaching the hazard.
