(1) In this section assessable item includes (a) a material; and(b) a design; and(c) a form of construction; and(d) a document; and(e) testing of a component, a building system or a plumbing system; and(f) an inspection, or assessment, performed.(2) Unless evidence is provided to the contrary, a certificate issued in respect of an assessable item by a person qualified, or purportedly qualified, to certify the assessable item may be relied on by an authorised person as evidence that the assessable item complies with this Act.(3) Subsection (2) only applies to the certification of an assessable item in relation to the use of the assessable item as part of (a) building work, plumbing work or demolition work; or(b) a building, temporary structure or plumbing installation.(4) A certificate referred to in subsection (2) is to be in an approved form and contain the specified information.(5) For the purposes of a certificate referred to in subsection (2) , the Director of Building Control may specify the following matters:(a) the information to be contained in such a certificate;(b) the qualifications required for a person to provide a certificate to be relied on under this Act in respect of an assessable item.
