The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1

`299A Councillor must take leave to contest State election 1
`(1) This section applies to a councillor who, under the Electoral 2
Act 1992, section 88(3), becomes a candidate for election as a 3
member of the Legislative Assembly. 4
`(2) The councillor must take leave of absence for the period 5
starting on the day the councillor becomes a candidate for the 6
election and ending on the day the electoral commission is 7
notified, under the Electoral Act 1992, section 122(1), of the 8
candidate elected for the electoral district for which the 9
councillor is a candidate. 10
`(3) During the period of leave, the councillor must not act in the 11
office and is not entitled to remuneration for service as a 12
councillor. 13
`(4) This section applies to the Brisbane City Council.'. 14
