SUPPLEMENTARY EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
Amendments to be moved on behalf of the Government
The amendments make a minor technical correction to the Bill
to remove incorrect references to the Ministerial directions power in section 12
of the Australian Communications Authority Act 1997 and replace them with
references to the Ministerial directions power in section 242 of the
Telecommunications Act 1997.
Amendment (1) omits the note
in new section 236A of the Telecommunications Act 1997 which is to be
inserted by item 3 of Schedule 1 to the Bill and substitutes a new note
referring to section 242.
Amendment (2) omits the reference to
section 12 of the Australian Communications Authority Act 1997 from
new subsection 236A(4) of the Telecommunications Act 1997 and
substitutes a reference to section 242.
The amendments have no financial
impact.
