The purpose of this amendment is to remove indexation of passenger movement charge (PMC). 2. Indexation of PMC based on CPI was originally proposed to occur from 1 July 2013, however, this will no longer occur. This amendment will provide certainty for the tourism industry over the cost of the PMC in future years. 3. The proposed increase of PMC from $47 to $55 will still occur from 1 July 2012. FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT 4. The increase of the existing $47 PMC to $55 without indexation is expected to result in an increase in revenue of $485 million over the fours years from 2012-13. PASSENGER MOVEMENT CHARGE AMENDMENT BILL 2012 NOTES ON AMENDMENTS Amendment 1 1. This amendment omits and substitutes item 1 of Schedule 1. 2. The effect of this amendment is to remove the proposed indexation of PMC from 1 July 2013. 3. The increase of PMC from $47 to $55 from 1 July 2012 will remain.
