2008-2009-2010 THE PARLIAMENT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HEALTH INSURANCE AMENDMENT (COMPLIANCE) BILL 2009 SUPPLEMENTARY EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM Amendments to be Moved on Behalf of the Government (Circulated by authority of the Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon, MP) HEALTH INSURANCE AMENDMENT (COMPLIANCE) BILL 2009 OUTLINE The proposed Government amendment to the Health Insurance Amendment (Compliance) Bill 2009 (the Bill) amends the Bill's commencement date. The Bill currently provides for a commencement date of 1 January 2010. Passage of the Bill in its current form would therefore provide for a retrospective commencement. The amendment will provide for the Bill to commence on the day after it receives Royal Assent, rather than on 1 January 2010. Financial impact statement The financial impact of this Bill is unchanged by this amendment. HEALTH INSURANCE AMENDMENT (COMPLIANCE) BILL 2009 NOTES ON AMENDMENTS Amendment 1 The Bill currently provides for a commencement date of 1 January 2010. Passage of the Bill in its current form would therefore provide for retrospective commencement. This amendment amends clause 2 of the Bill by replacing the words "1 January 2010" with the words "the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent".Index] [Search] [Download] [Bill] [Help]
