FARM HOUSEHOLD SUPPORT AMENDMENT BILL 1999
The FFRS re-establishment grant component is due to close on
30 November 1999.
The Bill makes minor amendments to the
Farm Household Support Act 1992, by repealing section 6C which contains
the current deadline for re-establishment grant applications.
It is
intended to extend the current deadline by 7 months to 30 June 2000. The new
deadline will be contained in the instrument which establishes the Restart
Re-establishment Grant Scheme under section 52A of the Farm Household Support
Act 1992.
The extension to the FFRS re-establishment grants will
facilitate the exit from farming of those farmers in severe financial
difficulties and without prospects of a financially sound future in
agriculture.
The estimated cost of the 7 month extension to the re-establishment grant
deadline is $5.1 million.
